Vertical & Horizontal Signage

Along with checks on materials and on-site monitoring Article 700 of Order PG-3 (dating from 2000) on signage, ground lighting and guard rails for roads requires the back-reflection, luminance factor and slip resistance of road markings to be maintained within certain limits over time.

The first step is to select the right materials, based on criteria such as:

  • Location of road markings
  • Traffic-free zone
  • Right-hand shoulder, 2-lane road
  • Left-hand shoulder, 2-lane road
  • Shoulder, single-lane road
  • Central axis
  • Special strips
  • Crossings, symbols
  • Pavement texturing
  • Low
  • Medium
  • High
  • Type of highway & lane width
  • ADT
  • = 5,000
  • > 20,000

It must be assured that all marks maintain the proper back-reflection, luminance factor and SRT throughout their warranty period.  To that end, Euroconsult Nuevas Tecnologías has portable back-reflection meters, a spectrophotocolorimeter and an SRT pendulum. We also have three Ecodyn units capable of taking measurements at normal traffic speeds to assess the back-reflection of marks in service
