Cross-hole Sonic Logging

This method consists of measuring how long a pressure wave takes to extend along a pile or rebar cage from a transmitter to a receiver, moving along metal tubes pre-installed in the rebars.  The vertical resolution can be as high as 1.25 cm, and irregularities can be located if enough tubes are installed. The method has significant advantages when repairs need to be made, since it enables their effectiveness to be analysed subsequently.  Euroconsult Nuevas Tecnologías currently has six data acquisition units in different geographical areas which use amplification probes for long-distance analyses.
