Ongoing research into new technologies

R&D&i is a top priority for Euroconsult group companies, since we work in a sector where ongoing research is needed to keep abreast of and anticipate new technologies.

The R&D&i Area of Euroconsult Nuevas Tecnologías was set up as a separate unit in January 2004, though R&D has always been a priority concern for Euroconsult group members, seeking to provide customers with cutting edge technology in equipment and systems for monitoring and supervising buildings, industrial facilities and civil engineering works and for the conservation and operation of infrastructures.

Main fields of research

  • Development of new techniques for the acoustic analysis and monitoring of infrastructures, buildings and industrial facilities.
  • Introduction into our market of the latest testing methods and equipment developed world-wide.
  • Incorporation of new technologies in conventional site supervision and quality control techniques and procedures.
  • Incorporation of wide-screen vision systems into high-performance acoustic analysis equipment.
  • Development of equipment for measuring and assessing the effects of vibrations on human beings and buildings.
  • Development of an ultra-seismic measuring system for examining foundations.
  • Development of equipment for static and dynamic load testing in structures.
  • Development of remote instrumentation monitoring systems for structures.
  • The Visualise high-performance acoustic analysis system for vertical road signage.
  • Development of the VISUALISE system for the acoustic analysis of vertical road signage and for checking the night-time visibility of traffic signs and panels.
  • Viability study concerning the development of a high-performance system for checking drainability and water spray on road surfaces.
  • Development of a high-performance system for the acoustic analysis of tunnels.

Main projects developed

Ongoing research and development projects

Several projects carried out by the company have received subsidies from national and regional bodies under programmes to encourage research such as PIE, PROFIT and the National R&D Plan.

Thanks to the experience acquired in these projects, the company is highly qualified in the fields of artificial vision, instrumentation and monitoring, wireless communications, acoustics and the development of in-house software for the acquisition and analysis of data and images.  This experience and expertise has led Euroconsult Nuevas Tecnologías to set up a Monitoring Department and a Vibration and Acoustics Department within its Technical Services Area.

To supplement and enhance its research work, the company has established co-operation agreements with universities and research centres with a view to making the best possible use of available resources to obtain better tools and systems for work, measurement and analysis. Chief among these are agreements into with the University of Alcalá de Henares, The Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Science, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the Pontifical University of Comillas.
